Firefly GLOW Stained Glass suncatcher
 
This sweet one-of-a-kind stained glass suncatcher was made by a Portland-based artist, Tamara Goldsmith.
This piece features individually cut pieces of stained glass soldered together using the Tiffany method. It features a variety of earth-tones for a stylized depiction of a firefly. Handpainting defines the wings, body and head with additional details. The tail of the firefly glows in the dark, as shown in the pictures.
 
Measures about 5" wide and about 6" tall.
 
The solder lines on this piece have been given a black patina, and are waxed for a protective, shiny surface. 60/40 lead/tin solder was used and the border is lead came.
Lead is not dangerous to have in your home in an art-piece like this unless sanded, causing lead-dust to be airborne and inhaled or somehow ingested. However, it is always a good idea to wash your hands well after cleaning or handling the piece.
