Dragonfly winged flying Skeleton Key!
 
Handmade by Tamara Goldsmith, this unique piece is one-of-a-kind,  designed, hand-cut, copper-foiled, and assembled using a traditional Tiffany method in her Portland, Oregon studio. 
 
Tamara incorporates found objects in her artwork often, and this original "Flying key" dragonfly winged design was inspired by winged keys of the Harry Potter "Prisoner of Azkaban" movie from 2004.
Each winged creature is created with original configurations of soldered wirework overlayed on iridescent glass. Each skeleton key is authentic and vintage.
The glass used is iridescent textured glass with a slight rainbow reflection under direct light (especially when placed on a dark background). Wings appear clear when back-lit.
 
Stained Glass, a technique relatively unchanged for hundreds of years, is the ancient art of assembling cut, mineral-infused, handmade art glass together with lead/tin seams. This piece has also been painted with additional details on the front only. 60/40 lead/tin solder was used and the border is lead came. 
The piece will be carefully wrapped to prevent breakage during domestic shipping.
It hangs from a blackened chain about 6 inches from the top and the piece itself is about 4” tall and 8” wide.
Lead is not dangerous to have in your home in an art-piece like this unless sanded, causing lead-dust to be airborne and inhaled or somehow ingested. However, it is always a good idea to wash your hands well after cleaning or handling the piece.
